It all began when the guards, contracted by Ambience management from Tiger Force, went on strike on Friday morning, claiming non-payment of their October salaries. Soon after, a message was shared by some residents on their closed social networking group, urging all residents to come out in support of the guards.
“We got a message on the WhatsApp group for residents, asking us to show solidarity with the security staff, and rushed to the scene,” said resident Abhinav Talwar. Around 35 residents blocked the society entrance.
“We should have been paid by the first week of the month, yet, with the month almost over, our salaries are yet to be paid,” said Manish Kumar, an employee of Tiger Force posted at Ambience Lagoon.
Ambience management maintained it has already paid the vendor, and thus is not accountable. “We’ve cleared our dues. The vendor is also regular on payments. Staff need not go on a strike for a delay of a few weeks,” said an Ambience official.
Ambience management also blamed residents for inciting the guards to go on strike. By evening, residents had decided to to appoint their own security, saying that the one appoi nted by the RWA would now stand guard.
