Amit Gupta, a resident of Princeton Floors in Mayfield Garden, Sector 51, has lodged an FIR against the developer, for leaving residents without power and water supply. The developer disconnected the electricity supply on Thursday.
At 2 am on Friday, a group of agitated residents approached the Sadar police station to file an FIR against the builder of Princeton Floors, but were rebuffed. Poonam, a resident who is a lawyer, said that cops refused to file an FIR. Residents then approached the deputy commissioner at his residence, and got his written approval. “Two hours later, cops registered our FIR,” she said.
Over 600 residents, living in K and M blocks of Princeton Floors, have been affected by the disconnection of electricity in the colony. As of now, they are dependent on diesel generators for their power supply.
In their complaint, residents have submitted a written agreement, which states that till Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) provides a new connection to Mayfield Garden, the developer has to provide electricity.
Gupta, who moved to the society in 2013, said, “When we moved in, the developer, in a written agreement, promised to provide power in the interim period, as DHBVN had disconnected its connection in the area. They can’t now withdraw services all of a sudden.”
In June 2013, DHBVN stopped accepting new connections in Mayfield Gardens, as developers there had failed to deposit Rs 44 crore to pay as cost of setting up a 66 kV sub-station in the township. Since then, over 3,000 families have been dependent on diesel generators. Despite several calls, the representative of Today Homes, the developer of Princeton Floors, was not available for comment.
