Under what circumstances was change of land use permitted to a dairy farm for residential purposes to benefit a project by realty giant DLF? The 9.26-hectare (22.9 acres) farm is in the vicinity of Rashtrapati Bhavan.
The Delhi high Court has cleared the decks for Centre to answer this query of an RTI activist by dismissing objections raised by Edward Keventer, a DLF subsidiary with plans to construct a high-rise luxury apartment complex that had led to security concerns and corruption allegations.
In an order made available on Wednesday, Justice Vibhu Bakhru refused to set aside a Central Information Commission direction to UD ministry to supply information on the property situated in Diplomatic Enclave to RTI activist Subhash Agrawal.HC said it can’t be said that the private firm will be “prejudiced in any manner” and it was aware that such an RTI has been filed. The DLF subsidiary had argued since Agrawal was neither directly nor indirectly associated with the property, he shouldn’t be given the information under the RTI Act.
