Vadra Targeted As He Is Related To A Political Family: Congress – 21-Dec-2014

Amid reports about the disappearance of official pages which had notings on the Haryana government’s decision to constitute a probe panel into the land deal between Robert Vadra and real estate firm DLF, the Congress on Saturday said Vadra is being “unfairly named and shamed” just because of his relationship with a political family. Vadra is the son-in-law of Congress president Sonia Gandhi.

The Congress said the disappearance of the pages was either the BJP government’s “purported negligence or a deliberate mischievous ploy.” The probe was ordered by the previous Congress government headed by Bhupinder Singh Hooda and the three-member panel gave a clean chit to both Vadra and the DLF.

AICC communication department head Ajay Maken said the pages, which the Haryana government now claims to have gone missing, along with the entire file had been provided to an RTI applicant by the Congress government some months ago.

“The Public should be made aware of this fact that it was the Congress government which released the entire file and that we have never shied away from our responsibility when in government. I want to now ask the current government how could the papers have gone missing under your watch when barely six months ago we released the entire file, unedited, into the public domain?”

“As a result of a state’s purported negligence or a deliberate mischievous ploy, an individual was unfairly named and shamed just because of his relationship with a political family,” he said.

The Congress also questioned the timing of the reports about disappearance of the pages linking it with the assembly elections in Jharkhand and Jammu and Kashmir.
